Physical ability to perform on a wildfire is critical to safety, crew morale and personal health.

Smokejumpers, once on the ground, are held to the same standards as all other Type 1 Wildfire crews in Canada. For more details and training plans please visit:

However, during the smokejumper training process, a special emphasis is placed on simulating the stress of jump operations by increasing the overall level of daily fitness activities.
